Gardening (poshly referred to as horticultural therapy) provides great opportunities to break down barriers, provide companionship and add variety to life. Whilst full-time work is not always possible, the opportunity to volunteer in maintaining gardens, or growing plants for sale gives a welcome sense of achievement. Parks and gardens maintained by the schemes bring pleasure to the whole neighbourhood.
