At Good Gifts, many of our most meaningful gifts are built not only around practical support, but also around kindness, creativity and human connection.
That’s why we’re proud to highlight our partnership with Knit for Peace – a fellow initiative of the Charities Advisory Trust that brings people together through knitting, crafting and community action.
Knit for Peace supports vulnerable people in the UK and around the world by distributing lovingly handmade knitted items to those who need them most – including refugees, older people, premature babies, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and communities affected by conflict and poverty.
At the same time, the initiative helps tackle loneliness and isolation by creating a vibrant community of knitters and volunteers who use their skills to support others.
Through Good Gifts, supporters can help deliver a range of Knit for Peace gifts, including knitting kits for refugees, knitting therapy, help knit a community, and support Knit for Peace groups.
These gifts do far more than provide practical items. They help:
- Build confidence and wellbeing
- Reduce loneliness and social isolation
- Create intergenerational connections
- Support mental health through creativity and community
- Provide warmth, comfort and dignity to people facing hardship
Whether it’s a hand-knitted blanket for someone sleeping rough, a knitting group helping older people reconnect socially, or craft activities supporting wellbeing and recovery, every gift helps stitch together stronger, more compassionate communities.
We’re especially proud that Knit for Peace reflects the wider Good Gifts ethos: practical action, lasting impact, and gifts that truly matter.
As part of our new website, we’re excited to share more stories from the Knit for Peace community and highlight the extraordinary impact that can come from something as simple – and as powerful – as knitting.
