That’s why we are proud to partner with STAND to deliver the Good Gift Help someone stand tall again – supporting amputees across sub-Saharan Africa with life-changing prosthetic care.
Millions of people across Africa live with limb loss but have little or no access to prosthetic limbs or rehabilitation services. Without mobility support, many amputees face exclusion from education, employment, and community life. Yet at the same time, thousands of high-quality prosthetic limbs are discarded every year in higher-income countries.
Through STAND’s remarkable work, these prosthetic components are collected, refurbished and distributed to rehabilitation centres across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, The Gambia, Senegal, Liberia and Benin – helping thousands of people regain their mobility and independence.
As of April 2026, more than 5,750 patients have been fitted with refurbished prosthetic legs through the programme.
But the impact goes far beyond mobility.
Good Gifts supporters are helping to fund rehabilitation, counselling, training and long-term support – empowering amputees to return to school, work, family life and the activities they love most.
One of those people is Connie, who lost her leg in a road traffic accident. With access to a prosthetic limb, she was able to regain her independence and confidence.
