Teams Not Gangs Pitch

Helping young people build confidence, connection, and community through football
  • ⚽ 10 local young people participating in positive sporting activities
  • 🤝 Builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, and community connection
  • 🏆 Breaking down barriers through inclusive inter-community football tournaments

The Teen Club Football Tournament gave young people the opportunity to take part in organised sport alongside teams from different communities, helping to break down barriers and bring people together through a shared love of football.

Young people from FARE Scotland proudly formed a team to represent their Teen Club in a day of competitive but supportive football. From pulling on their kits and warming up together, to encouraging one another through each match, the team demonstrated determination, resilience, and excellent teamwork throughout the tournament.

As the day progressed, their confidence and momentum grew with every game, eventually leading them all the way to the final — where they went on to win the tournament trophy. Throughout the event, the young people showed outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the pitch, building friendships and positive connections with participants from other communities.

The tournament provided more than just access to free sporting activity. It created a safe and encouraging environment where young people could develop confidence, communication skills, and resilience while engaging in positive alternatives to gang involvement and anti-social behaviour.

The day concluded with the young people sharing a well-deserved meal together, rounding off a memorable experience that strengthened friendships, built confidence, and gave participants a genuine sense of achievement and belonging.

Your gift of Play in teams not gangs is helping young people access positive activities, develop life skills, and build stronger, safer communities through the power of sport.

This gift was delivered in partnership with FARE Scotland, working to tackle poverty, inequality, and discrimination while creating stronger and more inclusive communities through youth work, education, and community-led programmes.
