- 🎁 Shoes and flip-flops distributed to vulnerable schoolgirls
- 👣 Safer, more comfortable journeys to and from school
- 👧 Higher attendance and reduced dropout in final school years
In South Sudan, many girls walk long distances to school on rough, stony roads. Without proper shoes, these journeys can be painful and unsafe — and the cost of school requirements often forces families to prioritise survival over education. As a result, girls are at high risk of missing lessons or dropping out altogether, especially in their final years of secondary school.
Thanks to Good Gifts supporters, girls in Yambio have received school shoes that help them attend classes regularly, protect their feet, and relieve some of the financial pressure on their families at a crucial time in their education.
“Thank you so much for being kind and helping those in need, especially female students. Due to your support I have paid my school fees and I have used that money to buy a school bag and school shoes. This has encouraged me not to drop out from school.”
– Josephine Wari, aged 20, Bishop Abangite College of Science and Technology, Yambio
A simple pair of shoes can be life-changing: improving safety on long walks, boosting confidence in the classroom, and helping ensure girls complete their education. For many, these shoes are a stepping stone towards further study, employment, and independence.
Your gift of school shoes helps girls in South Sudan stay in school, learn with confidence, and take their next steps towards a brighter future.
