In the week before Christmas, Maundy Relief were contacted by their local hospital. An elderly lady, Elsie, was being discharged back to her home where she lived alone. The hospital team asked if a food parcel could be delivered β she had been in hospital for several weeks and had no one who could shop for her.
Maundy Relief put together a substantial food parcel with plenty of extra Christmas goodies. Using funds from Good Gifts, they also made up a gift basket of special toiletries, warm gloves, a scarf and hat, a fluffy blanket, and more festive treats.
They timed their arrival to coincide with Elsieβs return home. She was deeply grateful β and told them it made a huge difference to her homecoming, which she had been very apprehensive about.
Maundy Relief have kept in touch with Elsie. She is doing well and steadily regaining her strength and independence.
βYouβve cheered me up no end β I wasnβt looking forward to going home but I feel much brighter now. You are all marvellous!β
