ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In Rwanda, Good Givers are providing dresses to traditional dancing group of widows, set up as a means of counselling. The dresses enable them to go out as a group and entertain to earn an income, as well as helping others. The clothes helped to build the confidence of these women and they wear them with great pride. “We are widows who are very poor and isolated. We formed a group of about 20 people – singers and dancers – with the aim of helping each other, to have a sense of togetherness and to learn how others cope with the same problems. Good Gifts supported us with two different uniforms as some of us had been previously too ashamed to join the group having no decent clothes to wear. The uniforms have helped us become one, raising our self-esteem and giving us hope for the future. We now go with the councillors open new ground for this work, and help other women. Those who are sick and lonely like we once were – to encourage them to come out and join associations for their well-being.” - Numukobwa Agnes
